I can't find the "what are you drinking" thread, so fuck it.

It's 92 outside, and I'm drinking a fine summer beer:

When I do drink beer (not often at all), I drink hefeweizen with lemon.

My brother makes beer so thick you could cut it. Not my favorite.

I'm enjoying one of these.  Thanx!  Bai!

You know, i"ve had hefes with and without lemon, and I just don't see the point of the lemon.  It doesn't make it worse, but it doesn't make it better, either.

Paulaner Hefe is the beer that taught me to enjoy beer.

A friend of mine recently got one of these, so I'm drinking Heine again after all these years.  It's actually quite a bit tastier in those little bombs.

http://pub.storagelake.com/heineken.jpg

The bar that's about 1000 ft from my front door has 6 to 8 pub-brews on tap at any given time.  Fortunately they're upwind.  Unfortunately, they're seasonal and all they have are crap wheats, Pilsners and PAs.  Good nourishing beer season is still months away :(

I used to drink Heinies on the boat-ferry from the UK to Rotterdam and vice versa... 15 pence a pint and fresh as can be, which is out of the keg thanx... The last time I travelled, the finals were on and the commuting footballers were drinking before they got to Amsterdam.  It suffices to say that the  inner decks awash with footballers vomit.  Charming.  I can't drink it now without the gag reflex.

I don't put anything in my mouth if it's referred to as a "heiney."

...and I agree Opsec, fuck PAs.

I got to that point myself many years ago, though I can't blame it on anyone else's vomit.  It's only recently I can enjoy it again, and there really is a helluva difference between the bottle and the keg... even the little bombs.

Well, I don't judge people for what flavor of swill they drink.  I'm a bigot, not a snob.

I use either Busch or Yuengling to pressure-cook beef/stock with.   Both seem to leave just enough barley malt flavor in the resulting stock.

OK, that's my Taint moment.

I’d drink horse piss if it had alcohol in it, but the bars here in yuppieland don’t have any drafts lower than Sierra Nevada.  Since they’re the same price, I stick to the double strength beers like Racer5 or Pliny the Elder.  Hop me up Scotty!

The bar that's about 6 feet from my back door has 6 home-brews on tap from light Berliner-Weisse to Double Imperial Stout. But my damn CO2 system isn't working so I gotta tap slowly. Life suxs.

It is totally wheat beer season though. Hot as crap here in Floriduh. I can't even drink the IS when I am in the pool, it's that warm.

Hops are first cousins to Cannabis.  I like high-hopped ales, yes indeedy.  I always liked Bitter, which is what I cut my eye-teeth on in the UK.

It is too long in transit.  If you were on the slow boat to the US you'd be the same.  Drink it in the UK, or Ireland.  Anywhere over here, blah.

Kwispelbier from the Netherlands is a steak-flavoured beer designed especially for dogs. Yes, dogs. Hard to imagine why someone would come up, with this idea, but it’s non-alcoholic, and really does taste like beef, apparently, although you’d really have to ask the dog.

The Bell's were a gift, actually.  They're a little TOO stout for my taste, actually.  They're good enough for free beer, but I'd rather have something from Duck-Rabbit or Great Divide.

We all made regrettable beer choices at that age. How many of us bought Grolsch just for the really cool bottles?

Once upon a time, at a university campus far away, a professor on sabbatical to Australia returned to the Geology Department with not only many collected fossil specimens but also several "Barry McKenzie" comic books. The Barry McKenzie vocabulary soon infected the undergraduates. So, while words and phrases like "siphon the python", "chunder", "chilled tubes" and "throttle a darkie" became common argot, Fosters remained a true mystery and obsession. Many years later, I finally encountered the characteristic large Fosters can in an emporium.

Eh. Not undrinkable, but entirely pedestrian. Like Burgermeister, without the puzzles under the bottle caps.

Fosters in cans is rot, bottles a bit less so, but I find Fosters on tap quite drinkable.

I was at the local brew pub earlier this evening, and had a horrific encounter with a Weiss. It was brewed with a lemon zest, which is unnatural to begin with, but I swear the yeast was still alive.  Ever drink wort?  No amount of lemon could save that poor wheat beverage.

Fucking hippie craft brewers.   Sorry Dusty, couldn't resist.
