Take it easy, Dusty.  They're lying.  They're going to sneak it in under the "health care reform" umbrella; just you watch.

If you are aware enough to vote, you're probably not a real doper.  Although I profess to want all drugs made legal, I'm also certain there are those who should have no access to them.  The question is how to do it. We are supposed to be a free country where personal choice counts, but with the Leftists trying to tell smokers how to live and Bible thumpers demanding a war on drugs and porn, reasonable people are being washed to the side.

It will happen, if for no other reason than the cost of prosecuting pot smokers and casual users of other drugs is getting to be too large a drain on government finances.

Some time soon the administration will have to decide between a "war" at home or a "war" somewhere else, a decision will have to be made. At this point in time, I really don't care which one has to loose.

Oh for Fuck Sake... Like the Republicans (remember Nancy just say no?) want legalized drugs.  BOTH PARTIES ARE FUCKED ON THIS.

I can understand why you don't like it, but it's not like this is something new.  If you're looking for leaders on legalizing drug use, Obama's never been your man.  Bernie Sanders, Barney Frank, and Ron Paul will be the guys pushing for that.

Ammiano is still working on it.  And a ballot initiative is coming up.  Then again, I’m probably naive.

Ron Paul is the only one of the three Tojo mentioned, and the mention of Ammiano by phoQ, that truly wants to legalize drugs.  The rest of them see legalizing drugs as an excuse to create a new way to tax the living hell out of U.S. citizens and they aren't ashamed to admit it.  Ron Paul wants it legalized because it's our fucking right to do whatever we want to do with our own bodies.  Those bozos are looking for an excuse to take away our money and Ron Paul is looking to give us back some of our rights.

There's way too much $$$ invested in the "war on drugs"-I wouldn't be surprised if big tobacco and the beer companies even supported it. Plus it has the side benefit of keeping the brothers down, and that works for many americans.

I know you've recently become a Paulite, but take a serious look at Bernie Sanders and Barney Franks.  They may not be libertarians in the anarcho-capitalist sense, but this is neither a new idea nor a cynical political move.  In fact, Barney Frank beat Bernie Sanders to the punch at authoring the current bill that Ron Paul is a co-sponsor of.
