I love that song. But it's better in Russian. And it's better at 4:00AM 32 years ago. And it's better when it's sung quietly but proudly in your ear by a beautiful Russian girl with a touch of the Tatar in her cheekbones. And it's better if she pokes you in the back with her nipples as she sings, and holds your nutsack in a way that keeps you listening...to the end....
That's never happened to me, but I still love the song.

Gotta love serious Russian chorale music... makes me yearn for the motherland.
Of course, before the Soviet National Anthem there was this song for the Czar - for some of you the tune may be familiar?
But my fave is just a good old Russian folk tune. God, how can you listen to that and not love it? Cripes. It makes me want to starve a Ukie or something.
