Given the typical profile of a Wal-Mart customer, I'd call this a 21st-century spin on the old "dog in the manger" * concept.

*Dog in the manger: Can't eat the straw himself, but damned if he'll let anyone else have any.  I'm getting old enough to understand that these things take explaining to the young'uns.
