So, I've lately been on this kick of watching entertainingly bad movies. There's a kind of movie that hits that sweet spot--where low budgets, earnest intentions, and incompetence intersect. I don't mean movies that are intentionally campy, but films that are lovingly made by profoundly unqualified auteurs. Even more specifically, I'm trying to put together a list of movies that are available on demand on Netflix. I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm sure that some of you have Netflix, and some of those people like shitty, shitty theatrical fare. I'll start with some suggestions that are streamed:

Troll 2
The Dungeonmaster
R.O.T.O.R. (must see)
The Stand
Time Barbarians
Frogs
Arena
The Falling
The Manitou

If you all can think of anything, let me know--I'm really hitting the bottom of the barrel here.

Under the Gaydar
The 7 Adventures of Sinbad

Both were epically bad and both on netflix watch instantly.

Oh and any of the "Wishmaster" or "Leprechaun" movies.  Talk about bad horror.

If you want to get one by the mail, Shotgun (1989) is worth every second of the wait.

I watched Hot Tub Time Machine the other night thinking that, were I stoned enough, I might enjoy it ironically; But, it turned out to actually be quite funny.

You missed Barbarella.  Bad.  Very, very bad.  But great.

Barbarella was atrocious.  And I though the same thing about hot tub time machine, and it was actually quite funny.  My parents even liked it, imagine that.

Hey, I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was entertaining.  Silly, cheaply made, predictable, but entertaining.

Way of War with Cuba Gooding Jr.  I made the mistake of watching this piece of crap last night.  I believe the director gathered up the clippings from the cutting room floor and pieced them together for a laugh.

Jeez, I finally got around to watching "Hot Tub Time Machine" a couple nights ago. The fact that I followed it up with "Dude, Where's My Car?" should go a long way toward explaining just how much I enjoyed it. It was a great opportunity to turn off my brain for about three hours. Actually, the pot probably helped quite a bit, too.

Seeing Cuba Gooding Jr.'s name on anything is enough to make me never want to see it.

Gah! I was getting all sexed up, but that close-up was a boner killer.
And what do they do with the untrainables?

Mommy Dearest!  This horrible little gem was high budget with name actors and is a WTF Masterpiece!

Several(*) of our fellow inmates went batshit ballistic for this classic in 2003 and chipped in for the videotape - that's right, tape - but had no way of sharing it with the rest of the site. Cruel irregular Razor's Edge wrote a side splitting review, still around here somewhere. I'd never heard the expression "rub one out" before.

(*)RT and OPSEC spring to mind, but I could have that wrong.

Yup, still cringe worthy. Daddy Dearest was a prick, too but already old news. Calling the Perfect Mommie the Worst Cunt was the last taboo, wasn't it? The beginning of the end? Ah, sweet innocence.

What movie was that?  I vaguely remember wanting and getting a movie from here, but my CRS is in full swing.

Princess of Mars is another good one.

But, seriously, if you're in to this kind of shit and have Netflix, R.O.T.O.R. needs to be the next movie you watch. Drop everything, quit your job, and take in the glorious cinematic abortion that is R.O.T.O.R.

I can vouch for HKG's taste in turdtacular cinema.

Also, I'm grateful to Decadence for reminding me of the existence of White Dog.

I have fond memories of the movie below.

Flesh + Blood.  The title pretty much says it all.  If you are in the mood to be gobsmacked by badness that you cannot look away from no matter how much you want to, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Or, as the writer Jan Morris once quoted an Indian waiter in a restaurant: "I recommend it very hardly."

I second White Dog as required viewing for anyone who frequents this sinister place.

And my own suggestion is the Blood of Heroes aka the Salue of the Juggers. It's a post-apocalyptic mash-up of Mad Max, a Boy & His Dog, Rollerball, and the Longest Yard. . . and it stars Rutger Hauer and David Lynch's asian superhottie Joan Chen. . . very quality viewing.

"Lord Vile, I've broken Juggers in half, smashed their bones, left the ground behind me wet with brains. There's nothing I wouldn't do to win. But I never hurt anyone for any reason other than sticking a dog's skull on a stake."
