In my experience, NO internet user is more clueless than religious users. I stopped taking churches as clients after too many bad experiences with having to explain what a browser was and how "Explorer isn't the internet" and like things. So they usually end up doing it themselves and that's a sure sign for disaster.

Porn hosters usually have their shit together and, like the article mentions, have a vested interest in keeping hackers off of their site. So if you get a virus from a porn site, it's almost always put there by the site owner, not some hacker. It's a fine distinction though when you find a keylogger running on your site. Between keylogging, affiliate spamming and adclick bots you can make a good living off of running a "free" porn site.

What, you didn't think porn was FREE, did you?

I have several church customers, they are a clueless bunch indeed. Many of the people you'd think would be smarter aren't, like doctors and lawyers. They'll click the first thing that google shows them.

Anyway, I'm glad you posted this article.  The way I have been handling church people is to tell them that hackers are generally atheists and that they try to attack churches more than anything. The religious thrive on the thought that they are being persecuted. I'd go to one site every day if they weren't such cheapskates about it.  This particular site always want me to cut some off my bill, or put expensive ads in this newsletter thing the circulate, then claim it as a charitable donation on my taxes.

Maybe net nanny programs will do us all a favor and block religious sites.  We would get a twofer.  No transfer of computer or mental diseases.

This is not the first time I've had occasion to use this quote from William Burroughs:  "If you are doing business with a religious son of a bitch, get it in writing."
