Nope, not yet, not in my opinion.

Meh.  Ponponpon was far more fappable.

No.  That would mean taking the chance of finishing before the video was done.  I'm hardcore, but that would break me.

Seriously I like this girl.  It's just catchy bubblegum jpop but she does some very impressive visuals.

There are still times, after a rough day, when I come home and PONPONPON on a loop.

Visuals aside, her lyrics have some substance. I think that's what I like most about her. She's immensely creative but her work actually packs weight. She's talented as hell.

Lyrics to Ponponpon.

What if everyone around
Decided to go skipping all across the town?
And what if they collided in the city streets
And everyone held hands and looked up into the sky, now?
If everyone would look around from where they stand
And open up and learn to give and take a chance
Then that will be the hope to chase away my cries
So don't worry and move forward with your head held high, -igh -igh

PON PON let it out
C'mon, let the crazy show
Because if you don't
Life would be so dull, you know
Headphones on my ears
Rhythm's got me jammin' here
WAY WAY open road
Gotta make it on my own

PON PON can't you see
Boundless possibilities?
DON DON hear that beat?
Sounds like it's your heart to me
POI POI make a change
Throw bad history away
Slow and steadily
Ah-ah, you make me happy

Every day PON
Every time is PON
Jump on a carousel and don't let go
Every day PON
Every time is PON
We cannot stay like this, but even so

PON PON let it out
C'mon, let the crazy show
Because if you don't
Life would be so dull, you know
Headphones on my ears
Rhythm's got me jammin' here
WAY WAY open road
Gotta make it on my own

What if everyone around
Decided to go skipping all across the town?
And what if they collided in the city streets
And everyone held hands and looked up into the sky, now?
If everyone would look around from where they stand
And open up and learn to give and take a chance
Then that will be the hope to chase away my cries
So don't worry and move forward with your head held high, -igh -igh

I guess those are pretty profound lyrics, Taint.
(At least, in comparison to your other favourite songs - Relax (Don't Do It), and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.)

Well, I didn't say they're profound, but certainly in comparison to the majority of popular music, she's heads and shoulders above the crowd. She's also very young. I think Ponponpon was recorded when she was 18, so she couldn't be much more than 20 now. (Yes. Clearly, I know far more about her than I care to admit but I was curious about her after Ponponpon was released.)

Alas, neither Frankie nor Judy fall into my favorites category. Those titles go to singers such as Mercedes Sosa, Sara Vaughn, the McGarrigle sisters, Han Hong, Paul Piche, Nina Simone, and Johnny Cash. And a few others. You seem quite familiar with their work, however.

I lived directly behind a West End gay club for four years. Sometimes I have homophobic nightmares in which a gang of lisping, mincing ass-rapers is chasing me down an alley, intent upon my puckered virginity. There's a soundtrack. (See above.) But really, Taint - the McGargle sisters? YECH! Ohhh...wait I get it - more gay humour:

It would be a gay music video?
