It would seem that you are the one who hasn't been out much. ( I am not counting your drive from Ca. to Mass., I know that was a terrific adventure) I have trekked on all 7 continents and spent a great deal of time in many remote villages in Nepal, Dhaka, and Addis Ababa. Very poor people, the poorest of the poor. I have never been anywhere that I have encountered the kind of selfish ignorance and general stupidity that I have encountered here at home.
I can pick an American out of a crowd at any airport in the world.
