Some would venture that the cost of living would simple rise to accommodate, the same argument used against raising minimum wage.  I'm sure the models for both points of view are out there and I'm also sure that what works for Zero Growth Finland does not necessarily indicate success in our "Growth Plus" economy.  This thread could turn into a nightmare of approaches.

I, for one, think that continuous growth is the bane of our global society and the true root of all our evils.  For Lands Sake folks put a condom on , we have enough people.  Fucking Chinks had it right, zero population.

Sadly, you are somewhat misguided.  The actual "dividend" is paid from Permanent Fund earnings...read: good ol' fashion n'vestments".  Granted,  the principle comes from royalties on Alaska (resident owned) oil.  The "PFD" fluctuates on a three-year average of investment returns made by the fortunate investment "managers" hired by said fund.  There were years when no dividend was paid.  ...and you mustn't  forget the IRS is right there getting their slice as well. 

Good gawd, that should bring a smile to all the High Street denizens...you know, the gun grabbing, statist, rent-seeking, trust fund, pretentious white guilt-ridden liberal types.  Socializing resources...spreading wealth to all...funding more bigger government...   Take Alaska education for example:    More $$ spent on students than virtually any other state while we rank near the bottom vs. the rest of Murica.  Somehow, $$$ didn't equate to better performance in 4th grade reading and 8th grade math vs the "rest". 

Alas, we're all in a bind now with these dismal oil prices (state budget and OPEC enjoy synergy). There's even talk of an income tax.  Goddammnit!!!!!   Fuck, we're going to look like the left and lefter coasts of the CONUS in no time at all. 

Frankly, I wish the PFD would simply end altogether.  You have no idea how many shit-bag dregs manage to find their way north for that "free" money y'all Outsiders keep harping about..each and every one unaware of the 2 yr. waiting period for eligibility..or the necessity of a  winter jacket at this latitude.     Shelters are full of human detritus who thought they could make a quick buck.
