I'm assuming there's a typo in there, since neither 156 nor 158 is more than half of 435.

Secondly, forcing sales taxes on internet sales just makes sense. In addition to lessening their advantage over physical stores (and stopping that stupid dick-move practice of going into a store to ask questions of the sales associates and then buying online), it also helps drive much-needed funds into state coffers AND helps people who work in physical stores not lose their jobs.

Also, fuck Amazon.

Fuck the brick and mortars too.

They all moved out of our neighborhoods (yes, I'm talking to you Sears) for the mega-malls and now their reaping the results of that decision.

BTW, you already do pay state sales tax with Amazon if they happen to have a physical presence in the state.  i.e. Distribution Centers.

A majority of the House is not needed, just a majority of those voting.  And yes, although the article was incorrect, the linked-to vote was 256-158.

States have made a few lackluster efforts at collecting use taxes, but eventually they're going to crack down.
