Yep - out of control. We used to be able to get in fights in middle school, now the police are called in and formal charges are filed.
My son posted on FB that he was depressed after his girl-friend dumped him (he was being an ass). He was suspended until he completed counseling sessions.
Jesus, I wouldn't want to be a kid in today's media invasive society.

K-12, fist fights were an everyday occurrence and I don't recall officialdom ever getting involved; parents neither. You learned to settle your own beefs, avoid them altogether, or get shortbussed to somewhere for spatial children.
