Fairly put, but as he is spending his days competing for the Presidency of the United States, and you are spending your days posting on this absurd website...what, pray tell, does that make you?
And should he manage to win this election, that accomplistment will make him arguably the most successful man in the world - a true rags to riches story.
Now it hardly seems proper for you to be calling him silly names, does it?

I'm sure they said the same thing about Hitler, Stalin, and Richard Nixon. Rags to riches stories don't always deserve admiration.

Yes, we should save out admiration for those who ride their father's coat-tails to the presidency, then bungle the job, miserably. I see your point.
Oh, and at least Richard Nixon opened the door to trade with China so you can enjoy your Wal-Mart purchases. Bush can't even lay claim to one redeeming accomplishment that will be looked upon favorably in the historic record.

You know what really is idiotic? Bitching about what a guy who MIGHT be President MIGHT do, while failing to acknowledge the multitudinous fuck-ups of the current President, who unfortunately CAN continue to do a lot of damage between now and January 20, 2009.
Someone should kill this topic, or send it to Drudge where pointless exercises in mental masturbation are welcomed.

Federal taxes are a flat 18.4 cents per gallon of regular gasoline, no matter the price at the pump. State taxes range anywhere from 7.5 cents to 34 cents per gallon, according to the Federal Highway Administration. And on top of that, the oil industry points to additional taxes and fees, such as sales taxes and inspection and environmental fees, that drive up the state-local fees to as much as 45.5 cents per gallon (in California).
And even these figures don’t account for income taxes that the companies pay on their profits. Those taxes would drive the tax total higher yet, but we know of no authoritative source that has attempted to break down how much income tax should be allocated to each gallon of gasoline
My assertion still stands, in doing comparrisons you need to seperate the sales tax, which apply to all goods, from the flat excise and other fees. My figures came from the API and the CA state energy site. Most states have much higher excise taxes then CA's $0.18/g although many have lower sales taxes and some have excise and other fees on a percentage rather than flat basis tied to a price indexed sliding scale. And CA hasn't changed the fees since 1994
And while I abhor the practice of shifting the burden of taxation to fees for evreything under the sun I do not see what in the world making some calculation based on income has anything to do with the taxes on gas. All proceeds from business activity is taxed, do we subtract the stockcheckers income tax deductions to figuring the amount of tax on a bottle of liquid plumber? Heck we would have to make sure we add the $18 billion a year in subsidies to the oil companies into that equation.

All right, who are the "cybernauts" here already on the payroll?
Barack Obama sets up internet 'war room' to fight slurs.
Whoever he has got working for him they are sure slacking off on the job.
I made a page called Jemaa Islamiyah, and called myself Fatima. And sure enough, there was no message saying that my page would have to be approved by an administrator. It went up immediately. And this was back in March. I was surprised at the friendly welcoming comments I received. In fact, I even received an invitation from one guy to be a friend.
Just to refresh your memory, Jemaa Islamiyah was the group behind the Bali bombing. And just so you know, that page is still up on the Obama site.
Now some of you might think what I did was bad. And I can see your point.
But let me remind you that Barack Obama is running as President of the United States. So his people had damn well better know about Jemaa Islamiyah! So as I see it, the fact that “Fatima’s” page is still up there proves to me that the Obama people are either extremely ignorant, OR that they welcome support of terrorist organizations because they share that same hatred of America and the JOOOS. Neither one is a good sign....
Update
On the same day that I put up the Jemaa Islamiyah page, I also put up another blog called Al Qaeda for Obama using the name “Fatima” as well.
I completely forgot about this, until I found a comment at Little Green Footballs that the page was still up. Naturally, I assumed they would remove such a page, since I had trouble finding it after I posted it. But of course the Obama people left it up.

It's funny how all of the "not racist" folks are so bothered by Obama. Tons of concern that we don't know enough about him, we just can't find anything that he, himself, has done wrong. But something about him just unsettles them a tad...
Of course this is counter-balanced by the mountains of facts of John McCain's transgressions, crowned by the achievment of having a staring role in ripping of trillions of dollars from the taxpayers during the S&L Scandal. Now I know he was able to dodge the worst of the blame, and his lobbyist friends provided ample of cover to duck and run (right into her open loins), and he only flip-flops on his political view points on days that end in "Y". None of these things seem to matter to his blind supporters . . . the fact that he's republican is all they need to know.
Honestly, Obama is too liberal for my tastes - but the elephant fuckers failed to offer a decent alternative so my independent ass will have to go with the donkey fuckers this time around.

Thank you for the support Taint..... I do understand what Dmtdust was talking about when he said "I have lived in the hinterlands, and thanks, but the idiocy level is beyond me.". You get around many of these rural areas and suddenly you find yourself surrounded by a population of people who don't believe in evolution, but are willing to give full credit to chiropractors, homeopathy and creation "science". I blame ninety nine percent of this ignorance on the church because it's such a major road block in allowing these people to think critically about the world around them. I guess I'm on this rant because I'm tired of hearing the pretentious city dwellers ramble on about how things are so desolate and forlorn for me and how my life experience is totally lacking merit or understanding. I deal with people like this every day of the week at work and it really does get old fast. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I actually have a lot of fun living where I do. In the last two weeks I've gone bicycling in the mountains, dug up some of a Triceratops I found last fall, and took a 130 mph roadtrip out across the prairie. This weekend I'm playing cowboy and chasing cows around with a four wheeler. I used to take these people seriously and was embarrassed about where I lived, but I'm not anymore, I rack it all up to them being naive about how people live where I do.
Chasing cows using four wheelers takes too much multitasking. The only reason I can think of for riding a horse is to chase cows. A bad horse will at least pay attention to where you're going while you watch the cows. A good one will help keep the cows in order. Don't let them get you down, go have fun.
