The Solution For The Car Thread! http://bikeportland.org/2009/01/12/outg … portation/

I'm sorry, but bicycles will never replace the automobile in my world....  I'm a fan of bicycling myself, but bicycles just lack the sex and the glamour that a car gives us....  Bicycles are at most a "hobby transportation" that is used to take a trail in the woods from time to time....  Bicycles don't allow a person to take long road trips to beautiful places in a reasonable amount of time, bicycles are as far from the Western ethos as  it gets....  If you want to use a bicycle as your main mode of transportation go to China and live with other third world losers....  I drove six hundred miles this last Sunday in below zero weather and did it very comfortably while listening to the Ricky Gervais Show....  If I were to to do that on a bicycle I'd be dead now....  I don't know what went wrong with this modern world, but when I was growing up bicyclists didn't give out that massive dose of smug that they do now...

Lyrics to Assemblage 23's song Drive.......

When chaos reigns without a purpose
When the swell of sound becomes too much
Crushed between the cogs that work us
When I feel I'm slowly losing touch

Sometimes I drive to run from all my demons
Sometimes I drive so I can be alone
Sometimes I drive to see the world in a different light
Sometimes I drive for no reason at all

When the walls close in around me
When the ceiling's caving in
When the anxiety surrounds me
When my patience is wearing thin

Sometimes I drive to run from all my demons
Sometimes I drive so I can be alone
Sometimes I drive to see the world in a different light
Sometimes I drive for no reason at all

The open road unwinds before me
An onyx ribbon spreading out
No idea where I'll be going
Sometimes the journey is what counts

Sometimes I drive to run from all my demons
Sometimes I drive so I can be alone
Sometimes I drive to see the world in a different light
Sometimes I drive for no reason at all

Sometimes I drive to run from all my demons
Sometimes I drive so I can be alone
Sometimes I drive to see the world in a different light
Sometimes I drive for no reason at all

Here in my car
I feel safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It's the only way to live
In cars

Here in my car
I can only receive
I can listen to you
It keeps me stable for days
In cars

Here in my car
Where the image breaks down
Will you visit me please?
If I open my door
In cars

Here in my car
I know I've started to think
About leaving tonight
Although nothing seems right
In cars

I was just looking at what has been offered at the North American International Auto Show and I'm a bit dissapointed....  The only shining light I saw was Mercedes new SLR.......  Most automakers played it safe giving us the bland generic look that the Japanese automakers have been pushing on us for years...  I have to give a little credit to Mopar for not selling out to the generic look like everyone else has, but I'm kinda pissed that for the first time in years they haven't wowed me at the NAIAS.....  http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows … index.html

American Cars, because two valves per cylinder is plenty.

I loved my hotwheels growin' up....  Never masturbated to them that I can remember, but they were a hell of a lotta fun....  I started buying them again a couple of years back, I'm not an avid collector, but have around a dozen or so of them now...

Matchbox and Aurora T-Jet cars were my fetish, though like you I never got sticky with it.  But I do still have my collection of both from when I was a kid.
