You may recall that Apple gave all its employee free iPhones--this included retail and Genius Bar employees--and after the $200 price drop, Apple issued a $100 store credit (iPology) to early adopters of the iPhone.
Some iPhones will not qualify for a credit, [i.e.] iPhones that Apple provided to employees, either for personal use or for departmental use.
Word around the Internet is that apparently some 800 retail employees tried to cash in on the credit, were caught, and given pink slips. (source)
Maybe a few of those 800 viewed it as some sort of bonus for having to deal with tens of thousands of iRate customers (not to mention having to train on the new equipment weeks in advance of its release).

Heh. I think Maddox has updated that page since I saw it last. I try to avoid the Apple store, which is practically across the street from me. Most employees act as if they know more than your average Best Buy/Circuit City drone, but really can't handle the simplest of questions. However, they can obviously figure out how to steal.

Fuck the IPhone... Motorola Q all the way... But then I have to do more than just answer the phone. I use my biznach as a cell phone card out in the field mp3 player in my car or if I so choose to listen to it outside my car it has a headphone jack, can play movies, browse the web, interfaces with google maps on it's gps... Hell I even have friggin NES EMUs on the damn thing...
