Whatchy'all doin'?
I'm going down to Fremont Street before 10 pm to hear all the bands, then coming home before all the drunks are driving around.

I'm going 4 wheeling out in the west end of the state, for some good old redneck fun. Then I'm going to a house party with 38 of my closest friends to indulge in drunkeness and debauchery.
Happy NYs all you fucktards.

Husband™ and I are still recovering from the salmonella poisoning we got from our Christmas turkey. You know, it's odd, not feeling hunger for 48+ hours. I'm still not hungry.
So I expect it'll be dry toast and chicken boullion, and early to bed.
(We are both feeling a good deal better than we were this weekend.)

One more drunken party before it's time to calm down, diet, and be sensible.

Debauchery and flagrant wantonness at a friend's, ahem, private party.

I'll be drinking alone and watching other people have fun on the television. Every time I feel the urge to cry I'll smoke some weed so I forget what I was about to do.
Also, it should be illegal for new year's to fall on a weekday.

Jesus, have you considered making a desperate cry for help, or was this it?

I think that post failed to convey the proper message: it's a weeknight, so none of my friends are doing anything, so fuck it I'm staying at home. I will make a traditional New Year's dinner of ham, black eyed peas, collard greens, and baked garlic cheese grits. I will play video games and drink too many beers. I will pee a lot. I'll get baked with my roommate and make fun of the idiots on the television. It'll be an OK New Years.

A relatively quiet night of beers and bong-hits with friends; But, I've no intention of acknowledging the Gregorian new-year.

Anybody else see Dick Clark? Goddamn, I just felt bad for the guy. Still, the man has cachet. He's surrounded by smoking-hot twentysomethings, while he's struggling to form words. That's a fucking mensch.

I've been drinking cheap American beer and Ketel 1 vodka (guess which was the christmas present) from a champagne flute all goddamned night. I can no longer feel any part of My Body except My massive, engorged Phallus and My living Brain, which burns with a blue, smothering flame.

I'll be having the same thing, but with fried turkey instead of ham, and mustard/turnip mix rather than collards, and baked cheese & shrimp grits, rather than garlic. Are you sure you're not a negro?

No, Kick, you have to eat pig of some kind--along with greens and black-eyed peas--on New Year's Day. It is an old superstition in the South (and, I suspect, other parts of the country; people do it here in TX too) that I've always heard originated among the slaves; but at this point, who knows?
At the moment I still feel too salmonella'ed to manage pork and greens today. If I wind up having a year of terrible bad luck, we'll know the superstition is true.

Not just the south. The east Europeans (Czech, Poles, etc.) also follow that same superstition. But they substitute lentils for the black-eyed peas (symbolizing coins, and future monetary good fortune).

I've had my blackguy peas, courtesy of my newly-Texan mother-in-law. I got the tradition from my mom, who was raised by her dad's Arkansas-stock parents. My youngest daughter likes them, too, so that tradition will continue in my line.

My girl had her first sleep over ever at a friend's house, and I read. Had some hummus dip and tomatoes from Trader Joes's for dinner.

Nope, and it was my own fault. It was fine the first go-round; I obviously did not put it away properly, and it was the leftovers that did us in.
I'm looking forward to a steak dinner as soon as we're up to it. Probably tomorrow.

Of course, I can't verify the veracity of that statement without photogtraphic proof.
