While Santorum is an asshole, that doesn’t change the fact that he's right about the birth status of negro children. 75% of them have sperm donors instead of fathers who are part of their lives. AlterNet tries to absolve the sperm distributors of responsibility by invoking “damage caused by slavery”, lack of education, and class status to justify their not giving a shit about their offspring. Men from other poor, uneducated, oppressed, and despised groups around the world manage to hang around and do their best to give their children the best start in life that they can under less than ideal circumstances.
He’s totally off base in criticizing Obama for taking his wife out to dinner and a play. It’s none of his goddamn business how the Obamas choose to spend their time together.

I agree with Santorum on this one. He may be a douchebag, but even a douchebag occasionally gets something right. Black men don't want to get married. It's no fucking secret. They should emulate Barack and Michelle and take care of their kids.

Sad stuff. I have a lovely step-niece, who married her boyfriend after she became pregnant. Yes, she is white, and yes, he is black. They have been together close to 10 years, with 2 kids. He absolutely adores her, and she him. My step-brother is happy for her, as is her mom. I think this works just fine.

Dusty -- what none of the articles touches on are the cultural differences. White women demand marriage; black women don't. A woman will live with a man and have baby after baby with him and never demand a ring. After he runs off, many times they don't even demand support. I've heard women say, "I'm a real women and I take care of mine." It's idiotic thinking that rewards bad behavior.
