Although two topics featuring the misadventures of black/latino folk don't constitute a 'pattern,' what [to you] is so wrong and stupid about this particular incident? It's a crime of convenience. I probably would have given the female delivery staff New Year's off, tho. Sending lone women to strange houses full of drunk people got a little iffy with those lacrosse players.

While I agree with you about he lap dancer, ask anyone who went to Duke (I have several friends who did graduate work there)...the LaCrosse team got lucky.  They were well known on campus and beyond for their shenanigans, which I think contributed to Nifong being convinced that he had a good case.

You say "cross" so casually, as if a 600+ mi. journey to El Paso and beyond would have been the most logical recourse. Oh, I know all about the Duke case. This was mentioned more as humor than counterpoint. Nobody's hands were clean in that affair, but after being so atrociously handled, it's hard to say everyone got what they asked for.

I did not imply in any way that the woman was responsible. And you really answer your own question. That's precisely what a 'sick' mind does: sizes up a situation and calculates what sort of shit it can get away with. Obviously, they neither counted on her escaping nor had the insight to appreciate that her deliveries are logged. Although the article doesn't explicitly state so, was there a strong probability that two men alone in a house on New Year's Eve had been drinking? I would think so, but that doesn't excuse their actions either.

All I'm saying is, don't get too hung up on the relation between rapists. It (brothers, cousins, father-son, etc.) happens a lot more often than you'd care to think. Also relatively unimportant is their ethnic or cultural background. The crime could have occurred anywhere, at any time, and among any racial group (tho rape is less often an interracial situation, if that satisfies you).

Crime reporting on holidays is a big deal...almost as big as insinuating that the people of Denver need to worry more about crazed Mexican rapists. It's really an "immigration reform piece" in disguise, except that the publishers have no obligation to disclose their political opinions as expressed by their coverage.
