Humans allegedly migrated out of Africa into areas already occupied by other hominids that soon disappeared after our arrival. The popular and sanitized term used is “out-competed.”
It’s very likely we’re the biggest murderers and rapists in the hominid family, and that’s why we’re still here.

Ten thousand years ago is a relative blink in human time. We'll find more of them by and by. Maybe they were responsible for our last cognitive leap forward, seeded here by little green men. Don't laugh. The greatest thing about a story like this is it's all possible.

My theory has always been that humans were able to fit in socially, ala Zelig, with whatever hominid group they found themselves in the midst of. But 'better liars' works too; six of one and half a dozen of the other.
