Not to put too fine a point on it, but what is the difference between her son and his support of anti-gay mom and your hatred of anyone of color? You are in a minority and yet you see no logical reason not to hate nearly every other minority on the planet.

About 20 years ago, PBS had a 10 hour program called Ethics in America. Koop was one of the panelists. The question came up about whether someone would give money to a beggar if they knew the beggar was going to buy booze or drugs.
Koop, to everyone's astonishment said he would. His reasoning sent me on a zen-search that still exists today.
He said his job, as a physician, was to ease suffering, and it was not his job to worry about the beggars soul or his future or his past.
I truly mourn the passing of Koop and especially how he didn't sell his soul to corporate or political interests. But mostly i mourn the loss of common sense that he brought to the job.
