Just curious, is the vet telling you it's "flea allergies"? Our largest dog did the same thing a couple years ago. We ended up getting one of those expensive as hell Seresto flea collars. About 10 days after putting it on, the chewing stopped.
Then I discovered Diatomaceous Earth. Tractor supply sells 20 pound bags for $10. Put some in an empty talcum power shaker, apply it every couple days, no more fleas.
