From the man at the EPA who brought you global warming and the Clean Air Act.
The EPA’s highest-paid employee and a leading expert on climate change deserves to go to prison for at least 30 months for lying to his bosses and saying he was a CIA spy working in Pakistan so he could avoid doing his real job, say federal prosecutors

So because this guy is an asshole, global warming isn't real and smog is good for you?

Global warming is not real, but not because of this turd. It's not real because it simply is not happening.
Did I mention that arctic sea ice increased by 50% just this year?
And, by the way, carbon dioxide does not contribute to smog. It contributes to greater plant growth.

However, just because Planet Earth doesn't give a shit about us doesn't mean we shouldn't take care of our business. Warming is a fact, just put your hand on the tail pipe of your car, you are changing the temperature of your environment and spitting out a bit of nastiness at the same time. The EPA is very important to our society, without enforcement in those areas greedy fucks will just destroy everything to make a buck. The sad truth is that these companies are happy to fuck up our world and then claim bankruptcy to avoid cleaning up the mess they made.
I just want clean air, clean water and clean food and if we have to have the EPA to get that then so be it.

Do you intentionally ignore what is contradictory to the position you have predetermined to take no matter what? Even in the same quotes from the author?
The increase in volume is welcome, but does not reflect a reversal in the long-term decline, the scientists said.
"... so today's minimum still ranks among the lowest of the past 30 years," said Andrew Shepherd, a professor at University College London, a co-author of the study.

Let me explain this year's ice recovery using an everyday analogy from my life. I've lost twenty pounds in the last four months. There have been a few temporary upward blips during that time caused by family and holiday events, but the increased weight is never more than a pound or two and doesn't prove that an ongoing weight loss trend isn't real. And of course the temporary gains don't bring me anywhere close to my maximum past weight.

I think Phreddy may be right on this topic. Here it is December and I have to run my damn wood stove all the time just to keep warm. What are all you damn dirty hippies going to stay once it starts snowing? A draft card only gives out so much heat...

I only posted that story to show that climate scientists are scrambling to explain unexpected events they did not predict.

In a geologic time sense the last 100,000 or so years have been climatically one of the most stable in world history. There have been periods of time in which the world has been in a "snowball earth" scenario in which even the equators were covered in glaciers. Then we've had periods of time like the cretaceous that had no polar ice caps and an average temperature 18 degrees warmer than it is now. The only thing constant about the climate is that it changes all the fucking time. Do humans have an affect on it? You're damn tooting they do. Is that a good thing? Nope.... A bad thing? Nope.... It's one of those things we should all be agnostic about. Climatic and environmental change has driven evolution from the very beginning of time and regardless of what draconian laws are put in place it will always be there. The whole thing has become a political issue with useless piece of shit politicians using it to legitimize their stealing more and more money. It's just amazing to me how nearly everything under the sun has some kind of socialist "solution" to it. Don't like that person's bad habit? Fine and tax them. The climate changes? Fine and tax them. You want to eat? You want to travel? You want to work for a living? You want a roof over your head? You want anything basic to human survival? Some larcenist calling himself a politician will gladly take your money from you by force if necessary for it. As long as the "climate change" debate remains in the political arena I'll treat it like the bullshit that it is.

I'm less concerned about the atmosphere than I am the biosphere.
We have extincticated (extinctified, overresourced?) a lot of critters in a frighteningly short time. I know that ocean acidification is just a liberal conspiracy, but I hope we don't kill off the phytoplankton.

It's an interesting balance that we are very much a part of. I was surprised to see that New England had returned to mostly forest (personal observation) and that the north sea fishing made a comeback. We still must tread very lightly and this Fracking shit has me very concerned.
Everything said and done the planet will have it's way, we just can't be stupid and greedy any longer. We also can't forget that China/India/Indonesia are going to be a big problem for us very quickly, those folks over there have zero concept of cleaning up after yourself.

Ditto! And someone tell me how much climate change we are really going to effect by taxing energy producers. We may make Al Gore richer, but his flatulence alone will offset any benefits of carbon credits.
