California drivers are highly skilled but rude, especially on the freeways near large population centers. The slightest space left between you and the car ahead labels you a slow driver by those behind. They will pass on the right and cut in front of you in order to save that extra 1/2 second. Asians, of which there are millions in California, are not aggressive but they are simply terrible drivers. They bring down the average. You have, no doubt, heard the joke: What do you get when you cross a Puerto Rican and a Chinaman? A car thief who can't drive.

NYShiddy's expats finally taught y'all something besides lame screen writing. Sadly, nyc's zen kindness never caught on elsewhere. I've witnessed more selfless samaritans there by a country mile.
Boston and Providence motorists are simply homicidal nasty, a downwardly mobile inbred immigrant underclass with anger issues.

My (admittedly limited) experience with NYC and its inhabitants led me to believe that their portrayal in the media is a lie and a slander. I was shocked by strangers' going out of their way to help/show welcome to a gawping bumpkin tourist. And I didn't get mugged even once.
They are Yankees, of course, and as such are more blunt and direct than Southerners; but at the core they are quite nice people. I guess you have to be fairly good to one another when millions of you live so tightly together.

Mass has the worst drivers I've ever seen in the States. That all being said try the Middle East or Asia for some true fun...
