As if the zombie crisis around the world isn't bad enough already... didn't I read a post here on HS or on Cruel that discussed freeze-drying bodies so they could then be shattered, and scattered like ashes, only without the carcinogens derived from cremation?

What? Are people smoking the ashes, or are you talking about the corpse getting cancer?  Cancer-ridden zombies are so much more attractive.

The human body is so loaded down with chemicals from our diets, exposure to industrial wastes, and the various items that have been implanted in our bodies such as fillings, that cremation has actually become a major source for mercury pollution and other fun stuff.

What the hey,

I used to pass that place twice a day. It is nice that they have a new business model, but what are they going to do with all the current non-organic residents? It wasn't exactly full, but all the prime area is full of gravestones and mausoleums. The only empty space is 10 acres up the hill in the dry gulch eucalyptus and poison oak.

It's called Promession as referenced in Mary Roach's Stiff:  The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers which is a quick quality read for anyone of a High-Street (f/k/a Cruel) state of mind.  Personally, I'd love to be part of the Body Farm at the University of Tennessee or used for munitions testing...Mmm fleshy bits!

They should just give up on that long, drawn-out form of recycling and go straight to soylent energy.

Ah, I did read that book. You're right; it's a great read. I actually first heard about it when I was still a reporter. Our cops reporter - who was writing about the discovery of several bodies at the bottom of a reservoir in the Sierra foothills at the time - read it and loved it.
