The only Hy Eisman story I know:
Hy and Frank Thorne traveled to Rome some years ago with both their wives and stopped to see the Sistine Chapel. As they entered the building, a Vatican guard marveled at Mrs Eisman's Popeye the Sailor pendant, insisting he and his fellow guards were Popeye's biggest fans. Tell him, she said, pointing her thumb back at her husband and a crowd gathered immediately.
Here they were, Michelangelo's and maybe the world's greatest ever CARTOON floating high above their heads, and below the guards worshiped Popeye. This isn't sacrilege, unless you remember Michelangelo drew a cherub on that ceiling flipping off the Pope. Look it up. Incidentally, the Latin word for those drawings is - wait for it - cartoons.
