That actually used to be a nice neighborhood, full of artist and immigrants. Pity.

I don't understand the bitching about gentrification - crime goes away and the neighborhood gets cleaned up and brought back to it's former glory? What's the fucking problem here?

As someone who needs studio space, it becomes un-affordable. The immigrant community usually is a very vital one, with little kids, grannies etc., i.e. Human. When the gentrification occurs, the arts die, Fucking lawyers and corporate scum move in, and the community dies. Oh, yes, so safe, so sterile. Fuck that.

It's a cycle my friend, most of those neighborhoods are changing back to what they started as. Let's face it we bitch about these neighborhoods before they get gentrified and we bitch about them being restored. Fucking make up your mind already.
There is massive amounts of cheap, high quality studio space in Small Town America now and some towns have started to work that. Melons has an amazing studio here with outstanding light and views, quite the happy little artist girl. Shit fucking changes - recognize the change and grab some value off of it.
Frankly anything is better than tracts of McMansions that will fall down in 30 years time ... and can you imagine what a Brownstone originally cost anyway??
