When Katrina was inbound to NOLA, I commented "Well that toilet is about to get flushed".  Apparently there were some remnants that required another pull on the handle.

Ironically, it wasn't Katrina so much as it was a failure of the safeguards, like the dam north of Bayou St John, that are supposed to help Lake Pontchartrain drain.  Those in the French Quarter lost power, but incurred no flooding.  Much as we did living in North Mobile, AL at the time. 

NOLA is a Cthulhu-forsaken mess that was never meant to be a big city.  I thought the vermin had all been drowned too.
