I'm not sure about the "long peace" we've been at war since 1992; Putin just wants some of that money now.
I'm chairing a committee to create another war memorial in our town in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day 1918, we've run out of room on our current memorials.

The log peace refers to the fact that there has not been a direct war between the major economic powers in this world since 1945. Cold wars and cat's paw governments not withstanding nothing compares with the direct body count of WWII.
