No that whole NE corridor is every bit as bad.  A lot of places in the south where there are no towns for the highway or interstate to go through you can pretty much drive as fast as the highway allows.

To be honest almost every small town across America with a Hwy doubling as Main St. is a speed trap.  If you grow up in one of those towns you just know to slow down as you approach a town.  Don't trust the signs, ever.

You also know the local cop shop shift cycle, in case maybe you're riding an uninspectable vehicle on a suspended license and need alternate detours from here to there. You're also liable to know the cops themselves and their personal histories, making every ticket negotiable.

Grew up in a (very) small town where a tallyho of "both" police cruisers @ one end of town, pretty much ensured you could drive on the sidewalks/run every stop sign / brody every parking lot / creatively commit every other traffic violation on the other.

Our next town over growing up used to run the speed traps so predictably that the cops had porta-potties installed in their favorite stake out places. The (ahem) shit hit the fan when they arrested a mere civilian for using them and during the newspaper trial it turned out that they were contracted on city money from a company run by the wife of the chief. I love small towns...
