Personally I am just happy when I see my letter carriers come round the corner that they have not gone off the deep end and decided to go postal. I don't think we can ask for much more in modern America.

My office is in the front room of my house. I like hearing the buzz of the little mail trucks when they stop in front of the house and then move on.

I've had the same Postie almost 20 years. She commutes here from New Bedford but knows more about this place than anyone else I know. The carrier she replaced was my best friend. Lived to hundred and, often to his regret, so did his wife.
Small towns are where it's at.

I know what you mean. Their propane engines aren't especially loud but wake me out of a sound sleep.

Lots of friends in France, Portugal. We are trying to figure out where we are going to moulder into dust. Can't afford here anymore, and I will be damned if my wife lives on the street because of my bad decisions to devote my life to art etc.

We have "full nest" syndrome here as Gen X younger son and his wife and daughter live with us. They both have shit jobs so the prospect of them ever leaving is almost nil. Granddaughter is about to turn 13 and is fun to talk to and get her take on social issues of our day, and I play golf with my son, so, not all bad. I've made some good investments and I work from home so I'll probably keep working even after I start taking Social Security at 66 and 4 months. Already talked to the owner about reduced hours/salary and keeping the health insurance. Somewhere around 70, should i live so long, I'll probably shut it down and the kids will either have to pick up the slack or git.
