A Christian pop singer comes out as a homosekshul and the Christians are not happy about it.

Jesus is the only man for me, too. The gardener, I mean. Not that Jewish guy.

Couldn't read the article--a popup ad wouldn't close. Ironically, that's how I feel about fundies generally.

Taint -- I see you get the same email newsletter that I do.  It's comedy gold.

Did you pray for the residents of the Texas Gulf Coast, too?

In fact, just last year in March, the director of the Human Genome Project, Dr. Francis Collins, said this: homosexuality is not hardwired. There is no gay gene. We mapped the human genome. We now know there is no genetic cause for homosexuality.

Ah hells-bells - Taint & Pale you're fucked.

and not in the good way.

There are no bad fucks only small dicks. This was posted a little farther down in the comments:

"Boltz is finally being honest about who he is. And people are disappointed? Would they rather that he continue to live a lie and pretend to be a heterosexual the way Ted Haggard and Larry Craig have? As for Dr. Collins, the genome project is still quite young and a genetic basis for sexual preference has NOT yet been ruled out. His message is an outright lie intended to convince people that sexual preference is entirely a choice. For Quinlan, the "former homosexual" and others, sexual orientation may also include bisexuality, in which case "choice" of preference may indeed be more of an option. In any case, there remains much to be learned about the biology of sexual preference and gender identity. meanwhile, we should be compassionate toward those who struggle with this issue in their lives."

They'd be at an equal loss to tell you on which gene "heterosexuality" resided. It is presently accepted that sexual behavioral expression exists in a constellation of genes that is more or less inscrutable and nearly the same for everybody. So, unless you'd prefer to believe that any functionally straight person has the capacity to become gay depending on environment and other factors of rearing, then you ought not to accept so blindly that supposedly straight people are turned gay by the same effects. There are other morphological differences (such as the recently reported brain size in straight men/lesbians vs. straight women/gays) that point to genetic links we're simply not smart enough to understand, as yet. Which is to say, a decision for either camp would be premature, no matter what Mr. Collins has to say.

It's been an amazing week...  The Anglican church followed in the footsteps of the Catholics by announcing that they too believe and accept evolution as a fact...  Then once again we have another fundie that's turned up gay!!!  I think we'll see religion as we know it change into something unrecognizable within our lifetimes...  It's been a long time coming, but we're seeing the beginning of the end of relgious fundamentalism in the West....  Good riddance...

I forget whose comedy routine that stems from, but it's thankfully not what human sexuality is all about. Whether a genetic basis is ever found or not, it doesn't change what exists...and that's still roughly one in ten men who are gay, a slightly higher proportion of lesbians, and innumerable bisexuals who spend part of their lives in one orientation or another (plus a few who seem able to juggle both at once).

Let's just presume, for a moment, that no genetic basis exists for human sexuality (doesn't make much sense when you generalize it to 'all sexuality,' now does it, but you can't have your cake and eat it too, here). Then we must all begin life as bisexual templates waiting to be molded into whatever society demands. There is very little to human behavior that operates along these lines. People don't all have the jobs that go with skills they're born having. Children's temperaments are not automatically easy-going and sociable. Gay men are not all uniformly attracted to hirsute posteriors (most operate to the contrary, in my observation). Considering the amount of variety bestowed to either gender, I would be amazed if genetic predispositions weren't found for nearly all forms of sexual interest out there. Can you imagine if there was a shoe fetish gene? (it would still be more likely that there was some sort of gene that disposed one to inanimate objects, and gets reinforced or suppressed through experiences in life, and so on)

What a petty little god they worship.  When you consider the number of species that change gender, mate in groups, reproduce both sexually and asexually, or are hermaphrodites, you realize the Creative Force, whatever you choose to call it, is a major league pervert!  I have a minister friend who says trannys are proof God has a sense of humor.  According to him, a typical tranny is 6’4”, has large bones, is covered with body hair, and has pattern baldness.  And this person will swear they were meant to be female!

Truer words never spoke.  Can you imagine what their Heaven might be like?

Of course, all our gods are created in our own images.
