He picked up his toys, screamed at everybody and left.

My official opinion (after skimming):

Zookie wants to go, because this place doesn't appeal to him anymore.  I have to say my hiatus here wasn't intentional, but just for lack of motivation here.  Things change, that's fine, but I don't feel the need to make a big deal of it.  If I disappear, I disappear... no explanations.

Anyhow, my thoughts are that Zookie wanted to go out in a flame of major proportions.  So he's flaming you all and baiting you all into a master thread of insult slinging.  He'd already decided he's going no matter what your vote.

Like he said, he was waiting for someone to shove him out the door.  Everyone here was all nicey-nice, so he lit a match under your asses.

That's pretty much what I saw happening.   I'm not sure I would believe that anything he said on this thread is how he really feels, just a matter of some Master Baiting.

Who knows.  Just my 2 cents.

That's a pretty accurate summary, yes.

Yeah this was all pretty evident.  We hated to see him go, but he said some nasty shit to people.  The superior than thou shite gets old after one post.  Really it does.

Yeah, he's better than us 'cause we're all degenerate dope fiends.

He's also not having NEARLY as much fun as we are.  :)

Ain't that the Truth, I had an Absinthe Tasting at my place yesterday.  Having another one coming up next weekend.  Yes degenerates... artist, anarchist and some damn good conversations... I pulled out 3 varieties, it was a bit of fun.

Nice to see Raoul back in the saddle.

My point was, the pretty nasty things he said were probably not meant any way other then to rile your feathers.  I'd bet zookie sits there and snorts lines on a daily basis.

I have little doubt Zookie still checks in, even if he never posts again.

Yet we used to revel in the superior than though shite in the olde dayes.  I miss the sharp edges of Cruel, which caused such lamentation and much merriment.

that is "than thou", not though.  I'm getting old.  I only want to beat people up on-line during times of national duress, or what once was known as election time.

What's the rule when someone catches you out, do you edit or just leave the mistake for posterity?

Leave it if you're caught.  If you catch it first, edit away.

Big shout out to Opsonovich.

RT, I disagree.  Zookie was having an honest-to-gosh crisis of some sort.  Can't you just tell by his wordgiftature?  One must learn to read between the lines.  He was quite serious.

PREDICTIONS OF THE HORSE-HARISHI:
. . . . Now then, ahem, he is certainly going to read this, but not respond to it.  He won't acknowledge moi whatsoever, but will find a way to contradict what I've said about his intentions and feelings at some later time when he thinks it's safe enough that nobody will notice that he is actually bugged by what I said, and is refuting me indirectly.

But that is not what is important here.  What matters is that we've all come to realize just how much we appreciate the Zookonovich.  Yes, even me.  I have arisen from the dead because I sensed his need for guidance and love.

Meantime:  YO OPS!  Paging OPS!

I am really loving the way the M-Kz Wars books are going, what say you?  Loving it, man.  D's Forge, though a bit slow in places, is a great read.  I want to bang Dimity in the worst way.  What say you, old timer?

Man, I'm going to miss that wacky pig (I mean that in a "pig, why are you arresting me" not "quit eating all of George Orrs' kickass pork BBQ, you fucking pig" way).

Either that or Zookeeper was secretly David Carradine and this was a cry for help.

You needn't shout.  I haven't read any of that series in a long time... I think I got up to VI.  The last Niven book I read was Fleet of Worlds, and that's 2 years old.  I have a beach day coming up, maybe I'll do some Known Space catch-up.

I don't know this Dimity character, but I'm sure he's flattered.  I'm just sorry I'm keeping Zoo's troll poll alive.

I'll take that as meaning the author for having created her.  Or perhaps you've been taking fnord a bit too seriously.
