Fruit fly sperm get to be 8mm long (1/3") not 60cm (24"). Sorrry to disappoint, but that reduces the 60 m sperm down to a bit over 0.8 m (about 32"). Still impractical.

Nope. You're wrong. The fruit fly species in question is Drosophila bifurca, and it's 6cm, not 60, as stated in the article.
