There's a lot more than that one place on hold here in Vegass.
For some reason, they planned like 15 high rise condo complexes. Many are abandoned or empty.

Amazing. Really puts into perspective the $2000 I still owe to my local builder's supply from last year. Construction is fucked for the foreseeable future, maybe longer. Of all the projects shown in the NY Times slideshow, I wonder how many sub-contractors were left holding the bag when the general contractors and developers walked? The subs have to pay their employees weekly, yet their own pay is delayed by weeks or months and it's customary for a percentage to be held by the general contractor until the job is complete.
I felt the rumblings of something bad a couple of years ago. When they cut out the easy home refinancing loans, better than half of my remodeling work disappeared. By Thanksgiving 08 I received more calls from people wanting jobs than from prospective clients. By January year this, all the calls were folks looking for work. Presently, those calls have even ceased. If you have a job, it's a recession. If you're in construction, it's a depression.

Here's a house a lived in as a kid, a home my grandparents bought new for $8000 in 1941.
Now compare that to the NYTimes palace below, built in the same place.
