My parents forbade me from using that term from an early age, and still act uncomfortable when I am forced to define similar behavior as such. I think they'd prefer "spending like a drunken sailor" to "nigger rich," but they pretty much mean the same thing. Disposable income wasted on status items is an unfortunately stereotypical African-American thing; wastefulness by servicemen on leave is mostly for immediate, personal gain, like hookers, club fees, or other indulgences. They don't go looking for knock-off Gucci handbags. Just ask Fnord.
