Now they're dropping cookies on us.

"Consistent with this Administration's commitment to making government more open and participatory, we want federal agencies to be able to provide the same user-friendly, dynamic, and citizen-centric websites that people have grown accustomed to using when they shop or get news online or communicate through social media networks, while also protecting people's privacy."

Uh huh, we won't keep track of people who visit sensitive government websites, and oh by the way, I promise not to cum in your mouth.

I did, you fool, and it's a lot of bullshit. Hell, this site uses cookies or it couldn't function. Most sites on the internet use cookies. Not using cookies make government website less functional than other sites. It's a non-issue, just like it was 10 years ago. The privacy concerns are silly.

Cookies record information on your local machine, are administered by you, and are only accessible to the issuers if you allow them to be.

If you fear the cookie monster, set your browser to disable them.  Even the Amish will laugh at you.

Apparently the ACLU agrees with me that this is a massive and unwarranted invasion of privacy.

ACLU wrote:

“Americans rely on the information from the federal government to research politics, medical issues and legal requirements. The OMB is now asking to retain the personal and identifiable information we leave behind,” said Christopher Calabrese, Counsel for the ACLU Technology and Liberty Project. “No American should have to sacrifice privacy or risk surveillance in order to access free government information.  No policy change should be adopted without wide ranging debate including information on the restrictions and uses of cookies as well as impact on privacy.”

Well good for you and the ACLU, doesn't change the fact that you're both wrong.

Funny how people support the ACLU when they are going to bat for them.
