For realz.  My high school sweetheart was raised by a single mother.  Her aunt and uncle lived right next door to her.  Her male relative, 8-10 years her junior, believed he was her cousin.  He in actuality was her half brother and the aunt and uncle adopted him because the mother couldn't care for two.

Her male cousin*, 8-10 years her senior, molested her for two years between the age of six and eight IIRC.  Bringing this finally to the attention of the family at the time it was completely swept under the rug and she in fact was punished for accusing him.

The guy was a troglodyte and by the time I met her he was married to a woman of also questionable intelligence and they had two daughters.  It was seriously like when Benny married Rosalie on L.A. Law with these two except this guy wasn't smart enough to get a job in the mail room of a law firm.

My high school sweetheart ached for these poor female children as she felt that he would almost certainly diddle them one day too.

She had another male cousin older than the one who violated her and I wonder to this day if anyone ever told him what happened because as far as I got to know him in six years he most certainly would have gone a bit farther than these people did with his little brother.  Pretty stand up guy.
