Simple.  The gene for red hair is more often than not paired with the gene for extra fatty tissue in the dermal layer (as well as other dermal traits, like freckles and lighter pigment).  As a result of the extra fatty layers, most redheads have a softer and more feminine look, and as such they are more appealing to men.  It's also why when they get older, most redheads have a problem with weight gain.
