They all sound like the made-up names I would torment my mom with when I was pregnant.

At the risk of sounding like Fnord, this site does nothing that single moms in America's housing projects aren't already doing.

But my major objection to made-up names is that if there is anything this world does not need, it's more women whose names are spelt funny, and who take extreme umbrage every time anyone gets it wrong: "It's D-Y-N-A. Dyna!"  This information is always imparted with gritted teeth and the kind of semi-psycho glare that makes you glad the Red Phone is nowhere around.  I mean, you've just met the woman and you've never seen her I.D. or anything and how the fuck were you supposed to know?  It never stops them from blowing their stacks anew with each repetition. 

"It's MARCI.  With an 'I'.  And there's a happy face instead of a dot over it!"

I exaggerate only slightly.
