Your brain can solve the traveling salesman problem with very high efficiency too. If you look at a picture of random dots on a paper, you can probably draw a minimum length line quickly. A computer has to be more methodical so it wastes a lot of time that your parallel processing pattern matching system (brain) can ignore.
