I've forgotton who or what institution produced this report, but in the 70's college students conducted a poll asking people their opinions on rights enumerated in the constitution without mentioning the constitution by name. Questions such as "Do you think that anyone, even communists for example, should have the right to assemble freely to discuss political questions?" Not only did many people disagree with these radical notions but many students were physically attacked for asking.
