To say he was gay is projecting our cultural mindset onto a culture where such a concept might not make sense. Several other possibilities are plausible. He may have been disabled in some way, perhaps blind, and therefore unable to be a hunter/warrior. He may thus have contributed to communal wellbeing by cooking or by being a potter. Given that most primitive cultures hold women in very low regard, this also could have been a disgrace burial to force this man to enter the next world with the implements of women’s work instead of the weapons a man would normally take with him.
