Must be a plague..... The Southern Baptist preacher I had growing up claimed to be a Navy Seal (later proven a fake). He had the appropriate name for a pastor as well... Jim Jones....

I was once friends with a couple (older than I) - where the husband claimed to be an ex navy seal. I never quite found it right...but the kicker is what we all found out later...
He was ex-mafia in witness protection. His wife, of course, didn't know either. He also claimed to be a doctor, and actually saw patients in his home.
We used to go skiing with them every winter. Just weird.
