The first production, 70s era hang gliders were notoriously unstable but that didn't stop me and a friend from buying one to launch off the Continental Divide in Colorado. I got only one flight out of that kite before my friend wrapped it around a tree and broke his arm. He promised to repay my half interest but never lived long enough to do so. All balls, no brains.
