This whole thing is awful; that guy was way out of line. Hopefully he'll have to answer for this.
I'm surprised the dog didn't have any reaction. Maybe it's used to it. When I was together with my wife we had a lovely 120 lb. female Great Pyrenees/Shepard mix. She would issue a warning bark when we were having even a mild argument. If I had slugged her like this that dog would certainly have taken me down. Which is the way I wanted it.
The funny thing is that when my wife and I would stage mock fights to see what the reaction of the dogs would be, with my wife having the role of aggressive attacker on top punching me, the dog would always come for me. The cocker spaniel would just let loose with a general barking scene. He was smarter and seemed to know we were faking it.

I think you're all overlooking the fact the guy is pretty damned hot, himself, but the bullying routine automatically drops his sexiness rating to the negative digits.
Frankly, the fact that they would behave like that in front of their kids makes the two of them pretty damned unappealing on just about every level.

Standing rule ought to be to use force when it is needed. It wasn't here, not even close. The guy is a butt, and quite a bit worse than the far smaller, weaker woman.
Go back and look at it again. Not that it makes any difference, but she hardly hit him. He had her backed up against the television, and she put her hands to his face and pushed. It doesn't really matter though. Hitting her was cowardly and done out of uncontrolled anger, not self defense or anything like it.
