When flying so close to the sun remember to shield your wallet.

Ummm, fakery at its flapping finest.

Could be but the tech details seem real enough. It's powered by 4 2300w (3hp) motors which are activated by Wii motion controllers.  Power is provided by 4 5000 milliamp batteries which could provide just enough power to get him off the ground after which the glide wing just brings him down.  Assuming he was running into a strong wind it could work, ornithopter's have been proven to work in the past.

Well, ILM has weighted in and declared this a fake.

Kind of a shame I was hoping it would be a real thing.  Probably just a build up for some new TV show, or Wii game.

There was too much arm waving, you'd have thought the computer would have eliminated that requirement. All the dude would need to do is direct the machine from the controls.

I want to believe (and trust) in amateur science, so this kind of elaborate scheme just pisses me off.

It was fun being faked in this instance, the waving didn't bother me as it would seem to be part of the greater desire for (somewhat) human flight.  I noticed a few small inconsistencies but was having to much fun with the concept and decided to ignore them.  The guys sprinting away from him when he wanted to take off just didn't make any sense what so ever and he ran too long after he landed.

But that doesn't matter, I still want one like that which actually works.

Em, you might be interested in the Maverick (specs)

Airspeed is only about 40 mph, but it does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds on the road.  They're in production and run $84,000 for the top end model.

The forbidden 'other', a regretably common affliction...

Do we really need to clue you in about all the nun porn out there?

Oh no, I am well aware of that.  Convincing my wife to let me bang the 19 year old hottie down the street while she wears a nun outfit is wear I run in to problems.
