My wife, who is of Scandinavian descent, makes one mean-ass homemade deep dish pizza. We don't do frozen.

Home made pizza is the bomb, but it can get really expensive. The boys and I do enjoy cheap ass frozen stuff occasionally but nothing compares to doing it yourself.

I use frozen Italian bread (rolls) to make my pizzas... turns out really nice.

You're better off making your own risen crust, and Costco sells a BIG wad of (something very much like) mozzarella for a reasonable price.

When the kids were younger we would use large wheat tortilla's and they had a blast making towering, senseless mini pizza's. Now we throw our own dough and spend far too much on ingredients.

A bread machine makes pizza dough with almost no effort. Either weigh the flour, or look in when it starts mixing and add whatever it needs a little of. Half wheat flour, toss in a little parmesan, garlic, and some Italian seasoning type herbs. The youngest claims not to like onions every time I use them. To which I say shut up and eat them you like them this way, and every time it's oh yeah. I cook Italian sausage and onions in a skillet before putting them on the pizza, the onions are sweet. A little feta cheese on top also changes the flavor. You can use lots of cheese with or instead of mozzarella. It definitely costs more than buying a ready made pizza at the Wal-Mart, but it's worth every penny.
