http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/2008/01/ … ng-issues/

Hi William!

Ack. Through a COMPLETE bumbling on our part, we've accidentally attempted
to charge you for the ENTIRE year of 2008 (and probably 2009!) ALREADY
(it was all due to a fat finger)!

We're really really realllly embarassed about this, but you have nothing
to worry about. Please ignore any confusing billing messages you may have
received recently; we've already removed all those bum future charges on
your account (#358452) and fixed everything up.

Thank you very very much for your patience with this.. we PROMISE
this won't happen again. There's no need to reply to this message unless
of course you have any other questions at all!

Sincerely,
The Foolish DreamHost Billing Team!

bwahahahahahahahah.

You should have asked for something for free to make up for the heart attack you had...perhaps a free exam at a local Cardiologist's office.

Actually, do you think they might be able to take care of my Visa bill?

Damn, you just beat me to this one.  Don't feel too bad, 1and1 is giving me fits today. You'll get your money back, but I'll never be compensated for the agony and toothdust.

They're already in the process of crediting everyone back. The status page for that overdrafting, credit-damaging, class-action goof was already 713 comments long when I saw it an hour ago. Their average customer would appear to have been charged something on the order of about $250, multiplied by...well, at least 713 very pissed off economy-hosted whiners.

Apparently, they were trying to reconcile the billing for last year and put in 12/31/08 by mistake. One digit, and it might just sink them. Not that it matters much, but you might want to redact the account number from your post, Bill.

Personally, I'd just like them to do something about the 100-800+ (!) server loads I've been seeing since their facility change for our cluster. Cpanel isn't even responding anymore. They basically used 2007 to turn into GoDaddy.
