Vegetarians may have a lower BMI and drink alcohol sparingly, but vegetarian diets are tied to generally poorer health, poorer quality of life and a higher need for health care than their meat-eating counterparts.
Vegetarians were twice as likely to have allergies, a 50 percent increase in heart attacks and a 50 percent increase in incidences of cancer.

I didn't hear anyone here advocate a meatless diet. Most folks, even poors like myself, have more sensible options than the prepackaged toxic sludge they usually swallow.

I would submit that people with less than optimal mental constitutions might be drawn to extremes of all sorts, including dietary. Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9kNoz_gS7k&t=17m2s

Fun but a bit off of point. GM is all cool but some of the legalese shit being pulled by the likes of Monsanto and the slow elimination of natural crops for certain areas is causing problems. Just because it works in Nebraska doesn't mean it's gonna work in Zambia. Hell it doesn't even work in Nebraska, it's all subsidized by the taxpayer.
Food isn't really a problem in this world, people not using birth control or being corrupt and greedy is the root issue (pun intended). Stop over-breeding and grow what the land wants to grow, it ain't that fucking hard.

Crop rotation worked for millenia. Then along came agribusiness.

I prefer my toxic sludge packaged in nice colorful wrappers that are also high in sodium content. I wash it down with large amounts of illegal moonshine.
