I must have watched Phantom a dozen times (along with Sgt Pepper's and Phantasm, and a few others).
When it became available on DVD I had to have a copy. I like to show it to people with the Dan Ackroyd Twilight Zone line, "Would you like to see something really strange?"
I just finished downloading Phantom, and I am about to watch it.
High Street has expanded my cultural horizons yet again!

Thanks, but I did see the link. From reading at the site though, coupled with my inability to find a torrent of the film, I assumed it was unavailable. I later found the DVD for sale at Amazon. Imagine that, one can outright buy films and not trouble oneself with downloading.
Both the book and film are now on my birthday list. I like weird shit like this. American Astronaut, Dhalgren and House of Leaves would enjoy the company. If I don't get either the book or film, I've threatened to rent out the kids' rooms to a couple families of Mexicans.

I <3 fake pron.
...so I watched Phantom of the Paradise last night, and it was pretty damned good. There were some real moments of brilliant in there, between the interminable musical numbers. (Disclosure: I am a theatre geek (tech, not performer), so I have a real love/hate relationship with musicals. On the one hand, they're fun to work on because they're fairly technically challenging. On the other hand, you have to listen to the God Damned songs one billion times and it's always fucking terrible. You fags who like show tunes are OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MINDS.)

Glad you liked it, that was when Paul Williams was at his creative best and only slightly resembled a troll.
I worked backstage on a few musicals too. Believe me, the cast begins to hate those songs as much as the crew does by the end.

Depends on the cast.
