www.imageshack.us generally does well, although they seem to have pattern matching on suspect filenames. So if you store a pic of a fat naked nun eating shit out of a priests ass (for example) and call it "shit-eater.jpg", then it could be shut-down within minutes. However I have had some seriously nasty pics survive for a very long time simply because the filename is completely meaningless.

Apart from that, whereever I find the pic from, I try hot-linking from the original address before copying off to a host. High Street seems to have a piece of code that tests accessibility to links? Because sometimes, instead of a picture you see the URL displayed, and sometimes, a few minutes later, it starts showing the picture. Choad, Orange, can you confirm the accessibility test?
